Women worldwide were celebrated on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2021. Mercedes-Benz Canada partnered with the renowned Canadian fashion label Pink Tartan on creating The She’s Mercedes Power Suit Project, which launched on International Women’s Day. The collection was developed in collaboration with three high-profile Canadian women — Mitsou Gélinas, Melissa Grelo, and Stacey McKenzie — and features three suits each reflecting an interpretation of what constitutes a “power suit.”
She’s Mercedes is a global platform by Mercedes-Benz that aims to celebrate and connect successful women, empowering them to be their best by inspiring confidence, innovation, and collaboration.
The Power Suit Project explores how every woman expresses her power differently and celebrates how personal style can amplify the confidence that shines from within. Mitsou Gélinas, Melissa Grelo, and Stacey McKenzie all collaborated with designer Pink Tartan to create suits representing their unique approach to feeling confident and powerful.
As a symbolic representation of the advice and support these women are giving to the next generation of high-achievers, Gélinas, Grelo, and McKenzie each passed their suit on to an important woman in their life.
The suit is a metaphor for an extra boost of confidence and the powerful act of women supporting and empowering one another.
Even though the project officially kicked off on International Women’s Day, the charitable aspect is ongoing. The suits are available to purchase at Pink Tartan with 15% of sales donated to the Dress for Success Canada Foundation. This non-profit organization provides professional attire to low-income women, supporting them in the job search and interview process.
