The first all-digital Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul (MBFWI), which took place in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 12-16, provided viewers worldwide with a front-row experience. With the elimination of physical audiences due to the Coronavirus pandemic, all the content is easily accessible online from anywhere, enabling everyone to have a VIP seat.
The digital event featured 30 runway shows, followed by live talks hosted by the Turkish Fashion Industry’s leading names. The live fashion talks featured international celebrities and Instagram influencers, including Olivia Palermo, Leonie Hanne, Veronica Ferraro, Tamara Kalinic, and Amy Julliette Lefévre.
This year’s fashion showcases provide a creative season-free platform where Spring-Summer 2021 season, along with Fall-Winter 2020/21 collections, are presented to the end consumer. As always, MBFWI enabled industry professionals to explore the designs of the upcoming seasons. MBFWI also opened its doors to designer brands and designers that wish to present designs for different seasons within the same collection.
In addition to the runway shows, which were shot in the previous months at Galataport Istanbul and Tophane-i Amire Culture and Arts Center, a full calendar of events awaits the viewers. These include retrospective videos of the designers, backstage memories, and similar creative content under the name of Visual Stories.
The event also featured the Behind The Scenes talk series, which hosted in-depth conversations with fashion photographers Emre Doğru, Emre Güven, and Erdi Doğan, who turned their cameras to MBFWI and shot the collection lookbooks.
MBFWI, the most prominent international event of the Turkish fashion industry. In addition to promoting fashion designers, it also elevates Turkey’s cultural and historical heritage.
