2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4: Power & Confidence Quietly Redefined

Nearly 500 miles of range meets rugged capability in GMC’s most advanced electric truck yet.

There are few better settings for evaluating a full-size truck than suburban Atlanta in the fall. October brings crisp mornings, golden leaves, and—if you’re driving through family neighborhoods—an arms race of Halloween decorations. Skeletons loom in front yards, inflatable ghouls sway from rooftops, and glowing jack-o’-lanterns line the driveways. All of this looks even more theatrical when viewed from the elevated perch of the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 Max Range, an all-electric truck that feels both monumental and surprisingly serene.

For a full week, the Sierra EV AT4 became part of my daily routine. That meant not only highway cruising and planned photo routes, but the realities of everyday life: school and daycare drop-offs, grocery runs, tight neighborhood turns—and, as a golfer, a quick detour to the driving range to hit a few balls and unwind. With two young passengers, a curious three-year-old and an equally inquisitive six-year-old, the Sierra EV quickly became more than just transportation; it evolved into a rolling classroom, sparking questions, conversation, and curiosity with every mile.

“Is it really electric?” they asked, wide-eyed, once they noticed the absence of engine noise. “Why is it so big?” “Where does it charge?”

Their fascination mirrored my own because the Sierra EV AT4 represents something genuinely new in the electric truck discussion: not an experiment or a lifestyle statement, but a fully realized, no-compromise GMC truck—one that just happens to be electric.

Brawny Outside, Thoughtful Inside

Named after the jagged peaks of the Sierra Nevada, the GMC Sierra has always suggested strength and elevation. The AT4 treatment amplifies that heritage. With two inches of additional ground clearance, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and an unmistakably wide stance, the Sierra EV AT4 appears ready for trails, campsites, and construction sites alike. The red illuminated GMC badge at the front adds a subtle yet confident signature: less flash, more authority.

Yet, stepping inside changes the mood. The AT4-exclusive Forest Storm interior strikes a careful balance between ruggedness and refinement. The materials feel durable without being austere, and upscale without drifting into fragility. The cabin is quiet (eerily so at times), allowing conversations, podcasts, and kids’ questions to unfold without interference from engine noise.

At the center of it all is a large, vertically oriented touchscreen that anchors the cabin with clarity and confidence. GMC’s infotainment system is intuitive and responsive, proving capable of handling navigation, media, and vehicle settings throughout the week. This is a truck interior designed not just for drivers, but for families, road trips, and long days that blend work with life.

Everyday Safety, Elevated Vision

One of the Sierra EV AT4’s most impressive features revealed itself not on the highway or trail, but during everyday suburban driving. The left and right turn-signal camera views are a quiet revelation. Activated automatically, they provide a clear, expanded view of the vehicle’s blind spots when signaling—an invaluable asset when maneuvering a large truck through school zones, parking lots, and narrow neighborhood streets.

This kind of technology doesn’t demand attention but earns appreciation quickly, especially when precious cargo is buckled in the back seat.

Electric Range Without Anxiety

Of course, the headline feature is range—and here the Sierra EV AT4 Max Range makes its boldest statement. With a GM-estimated 478 miles of range, this truck sits at the very top of the electric pickup segment, surpassing key rivals and reshaping expectations for what an electric truck can realistically achieve.

In practice, that range translates to freedom: freedom from constant charging calculations and the ability to plan weekend escapes, jobsite travel, or extended commutes with confidence. GMC estimates that routes like Los Angeles to Phoenix or New York City to Virginia Beach can be completed on a single charge, figures that feel almost defiant in today’s EV landscape. Fast-charging capability further enhances the appeal. With available 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, the Sierra EV AT4 can add roughly 100 miles of range in about 10 minutes, perfect for coffee breaks that actually feel like a break, not an obligation.

A Real Truck, Electrified

Crucially, the Sierra EV AT4 never forgets that it’s a truck. Features like the MultiPro™ MidGate, which allows hauling items nearly 11 feet long while retaining rear seating, and the 10.2 kW Energy Transfer Pro system with 240-volt and 120-volt outlets, reinforce its role as a true workhorse. With a towing capacity of up to 12,300 pounds, any lingering doubts are put to rest.

Then there’s Terrain Mode, integrated with one-pedal driving and automatic braking, delivering precise control when the pavement ends. Combined with 4-Wheel Steer and CrabWalk®, the Sierra EV AT4 feels remarkably agile for its size—proof that strong engineering and innovation can redefine what a truck can be.

The AT4 trim starts at $81,395, including destination. The Sierra EV AT4 Max Range model we tested, equipped with the extended battery, off-road, and technology options, carried an MSRP of $93,545. This price reflects the premium features and extended capabilities that define GMC’s most adventure-ready modern American pickup.
