The PGA of America, one of the world’s largest sports organizations representing over 31,000 golf professionals, has announced new leadership following its 108th Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. PGA Master Professional Don Rea Jr. was elected the 44th President of the PGA of America and will serve a two-year term, succeeding John Lindert.
Rea, a 22-year PGA Member from the Southwest PGA Section, is the Owner and Operator of Augusta Ranch Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. A passionate advocate for the game and its professionals, Rea’s career spans decades of leadership roles, including chairing the PGA Jr. League and Junior Golf Committees. He also co-developed the American Development Model (ADM) for golf, aimed at fostering inclusivity and growth in the sport.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve our PGA of America Golf Professionals,” said Rea. “Together, we impact millions of golfers daily, ensuring the game’s growth and accessibility.”
Joining Rea in leadership are Nathan Charnes, the new Vice President, and Eric Eshleman, elected Secretary. Charnes, General Manager of WingHaven Country Club in Missouri and a second-generation PGA Professional, brings extensive experience in golf operations and philanthropy, including his work with the PGA REACH Foundation.
Eshleman, PGA Director of Golf at the Country Club of Birmingham in Alabama, is a nationally recognized instructor who has worked with players like Graeme McDowell and Patton Kizzire. His nearly 30 years of service include numerous accolades, such as the PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2019.
With this seasoned leadership team, the PGA of America continues its mission to grow the game and support the professionals who lead it.
