When the original Pro V1 launched in Las Vegas 25 years ago, it was anticipated that a few dozen players would adopt the new ball. In reality, nearly 50 players immediately made the switch, making it the single largest equipment shift in PGA TOUR history. Today, the Pro V1 and Pro V1x continue to lead the pack, trusted by champions and amateurs alike.

Titleist returns to Las Vegas to celebrate a quarter-century of innovation with the debut of the 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls on the PGA TOUR. The Pro V1, first introduced in 2000, and the Pro V1x, which followed in 2003, have become the game’s most trusted and best-selling golf balls. Since their inception, they have dominated the PGA TOUR with over 97,000 total plays—more than six times that of the nearest competitor.

Continuous Innovation

Titleist’s success lies in its relentless drive to innovate. For 25 years, the brand has focused on refining the Pro V1 and Pro V1x through a rigorous process of research and development, continuous feedback from golfers, and validation from tour professionals. This iterative approach ensures that each generation of the ball is more advanced than the last, offering improved performance, consistency, and feel.

The 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x are no exception. Before making their way to retail shelves, these prototypes were tested extensively by top tour players. Hayden Springer and Zac Blair were among the early adopters who tested and put the new balls into play during the PGA TOUR’s fall season, and Lee Hodges also made the switch at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Performance and Technology

The new 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x models are built on the foundation of cutting-edge technology that has evolved over two and a half decades. The Pro V1 delivers a softer feel, lower spin, and a penetrating trajectory, ideal for golfers who seek control and distance. The Pro V1x, on the other hand, provides higher flight, more spin, and a firmer feel, appealing to players who prefer added stopping power on the greens.

Both models feature advanced multi-layer construction, offering a balanced blend of distance off the tee and control around the greens. Titleist’s signature urethane elastomer cover and optimized dimple patterns further enhance aerodynamics and ball flight, ensuring consistent performance in all conditions.

A Legacy of Excellence

The Titleist Pro V1’s legacy began on the same Las Vegas range where this week’s unveiling takes place. In October 2000, Titleist shipped 60 dozen Pro V1 prototypes to the Invensys Classic at TPC Summerlin, expecting modest adoption. Instead, 47 players, including the event’s eventual champion Billy Andrade, made the switch—setting a new standard for golf ball technology. That early success cemented the Pro V1’s reputation, transforming it into the go-to choice for professionals and amateurs alike.

This legacy continues with the 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x, as Titleist’s Golf Ball R&D team, comprising more than 75 associates with expertise in fields like chemistry and engineering, has worked tirelessly to elevate the performance of these iconic golf balls. Over 1,700 patents line the walls of Titleist’s R&D department, a testament to the company’s unmatched commitment to innovation. The 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x each embody the results of years of meticulous research, featuring unique dimple patterns and materials that optimize flight and spin.

Looking Ahead

As Titleist celebrates 25 years of the Pro V1, the brand shows no signs of slowing down. The 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x represent the latest chapter in a storied legacy of performance and trust. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an amateur golfer, Titleist’s newest models are ready to deliver the precision, distance, and control that have made Pro V1 the #1 ball in golf for a quarter-century.

As the PGA TOUR’s top players test these next-generation balls at TPC Summerlin this week, one thing remains clear—Titleist’s pursuit of excellence continues, with no end in sight.
